Do web design and development agencies need a better proofreading process?

• Written by Eric Higgins

Only if you think it’s a problem that 79% of agency websites feature typos, spelling mistakes, and grammatical errors. That number jumps to 90% when you include broken links.

I’m not even talking about the websites designed for clients; these stats refer to the agencies’ own websites. Here’s a small sample of actual typos:

  • Making digital presence ‘stonger’
  • ‘Sumbit’
  • Design & ‘Developmnet’
  • Send us a ‘Meesage’
  • ‘Cutomer’ Log-In Area

“Meesage” really? And on a form button?

And don’t even get me started on Lorem Ipsum plastered across dozens of incomplete pages.

Considering the incredible tools available for marketing, design, and development, it’s hard to justify agencies that specialize in building beautiful, effective websites still having typos on their own sites.

When it comes to selecting a service provider, consumers have more options than ever. One of the easiest ways to disqualify yourself is by giving customers a reason to look elsewhere. It doesn’t have to be a major issue, just enough to plant a seed of doubt or raise questions about your legitimacy and reputation. Once that doubt is there, you may as well have lost the customer for good.

Imagine you’re looking to hire a lawyer or an accountant and you come across typos like “perfromance” or “Packeges” (actual typos from agency websites). It’s hard not to question their attention to detail, something you’d want in a lawyer or accountant. Also, something you’d want in an agency.

It’s not that agencies don’t care or aren’t trying. The issue is their current process for quality control is often heavily reliant on people juggling multiple tasks, and this approach simply isn’t sufficient.

That’s why TripleChecker exists to offer an automated solution for agencies that saves hours per website and is more effective at catching spelling mistakes, grammatical errors, typos, and broken links.
