13 years later, people still can't spell...

• Written by Eric Higgins

Despite all of Warren Buffett’s achievements to his name:

  • Average annual returns of 22% since 1965
  • Net worth of $150B
  • $55B donated to charity
  • Presidential medal of freedom

We still can’t get his name right!

Of the last 40,000 websites that TripleChecker scanned for errors, over 1% (550 websites in total) have his name spelled as Warren Buffet (with one ‘t’).

Now, while we won’t go so far as to say this misspelling is one of the “dumbest moments in business” (as CNN wrote in 2011), it can certainly be avoided with basic proofreading.

Key takeaways:

  • Not much has changed since 2011; people still can’t spell.
  • Whatever proofreading tools website owners use aren’t working.
  • Neither Warren Buffett nor Warren Buffet probably care all that much. One is too busy investing billions, and the other is likely hosting a lavish dinner.
