How NOT to put your best foot forward

• Written by Eric Higgins

The moment a client visits your website, you have just 54 seconds to convince them to stay.

This is especially true for web development and design agencies, who are tasked with creating visually appealing and effective websites.

Now, imagine the chances of a client moving forward if your website didn’t load properly. Or if the images failed to display. Or if the JavaScript was broken. Your Magic 8 Ball would say, ‘Outlook not so good.

The same applies when potential clients encounter noticeable misspellings on your site.

Here are a few recent examples we’ve come across on actual agency websites:

  • “emial”
  • “wbsite” or “wesbite”
  • “desgin”
  • “devolpmer”
  • “happy clents” (I’d be a much happier client with an error-free site)
  • “freequently asked questions”

Would you trust a firm if you spotted errors like these?

If these mistakes show up on an agency’s site, they’re likely on their clients’ sites too. A better proofreading process can help prevent this.
